Coordinator: Robert Keever (Math Department)
Total additional credits for the Mathematics Minor: 20 6-7

  1. Required Courses (11 cr.) (3-4 cr.)
    1. MAT 224 (4 cr.) Calculus I
    2. MAT 225 (4 cr.) Calculus II, if not counted towards the CS Major
    3. MAT 202 (3 cr.) Linear Algebra, if not counted towards the CS Major
  2. Elective Courses (9 cr.) (3 cr.)
    Select three courses one course:
    • Mathematics courses at the 300/400 level. (except MAT 391, MAT 496 and Internships).
    • CSC 453 (3. cr.) Intro. Numerical Methods (prereq.: MAT 225) -- offered infrequently
    • CSC 422 (3 cr.) Theory of Computation
    • CSC 318 (3 cr.) Discrete Math and CS Appl. II or MAT 231 (3 cr.) Sets, Functions and Relations

NOTES:

  1. Courses required for both the minor and the major are crossed out; you need to sellect from the remaining courses.
  2. To complete Computer Science Major and Mathematics Minor, you need to take both MAT 202 (3 cr.) Linear Algebra and MAT 225 (4 cr.) Calculus II.
  3. MAT 361 Probability and Statistics (3 cr.) is useful for computer scientists -- consider taking this course, but notice that it has a prerequsite of Calculus III.
